Jakkalsden Campsite, Montagu, Western Cape

Jakkalsden is a great off grid style campsite located a few kilometers outside of the town Montagu in the Western Cape. This campsite truly wants to give you that off-grid camping feel and it really succeeds in doing so. We were warmly greeted and instantly felt welcome on the farm. The owner then showed us to our campsite and ensured that we settled in just fine for our stay. The campsites themselves are spaced far from each other and really offers you a nice and private experience. The sites have different shapes and sizes with some being a bit bigger or smaller than the others. Each site is unique in it’s own way and offers something different. There are two ablution areas one has 2 hot water showers (hot water via donkey) and 2 flush toilets while the other is just a flush toilet and an area to clean your porta potty. Both ablution areas are centrally located between all the campsites but you would most probably have to drive from your campsite to the ablution areas. There are various routes and roads on the farm that you drive, jog or cycle on and some of the views overlooking the valley is incredible. All and all we really enjoyed our stay at Jakkalsden.
