Gecko Rock Private Nature Reserve, Touwsrivier, Western Cape

Gecko Rock is a private nature reserve located about 30km outside of the town Touws River. You really start to feel that you are entering the Karoo and the "off grid" nature of the campsite adds to that feeling. We stayed at the Echo Valley Campsite which is a private campsite located on the farm. You have a private lapa area equipped wit a sink and hot water as well as private ablution areas and a splash pool where you can cool down on those hot Karoo days. On this site you will also have 2 braai areas in the form of a braai drum and a fire pit sunken into the ground. There is no electricity so you need to pack those solar panels if you need to charge batteries. Savva could also join as the whole Nature Reserve is pet friendly. A few kilometres away you will find De Wet's Rus campsite that consists of 7 sites located under some trees. This campsite has communal ablution areas and a communal lapa and braai area. Each individual stand also has a braai drum on the stand and there is also splash pool located at this camp. Just behind the camp area you will find self catering cabins and the reserve has a few other self catering chalets on secluded spots on the farm. The reserve also has a few hiking and mountain biking trails as well as a few 4x4 trails and even a shooting range.
