Fraaigelegen Farm, Tulbach, Western Cape

Fraaigelegen is camp at the foot of the majestic Witzenberg mountains close to the town of Tulbagh. At the time of us camping there, they allowed two groups at a time on the camping area. The campsites have luscious green grass and the entire camp is surrounded by trees. That will provide shade during the day. The camp is on a working farm well known for its award-winning ADHARA EVOO extra virgin olive oil. We had a cosy little braai area with a build-in braai. The camp is pet friendly and Savva enjoyed her stay there. We did take a stroll on the farm and ended up at the dam. It is a big dam where you can do canoeing and even have a braai there while you spend time with the family. The kids will enjoy the play area at the dam, and I can imagine how nice it would be to cool off in the dam in the hot summer days. The camp sites have access to electricity and drinking water. You can buy firewood from the management. We had a very peaceful and quiet stay at Fraaigelegen.

The surrounding area offers quite a lot to do. There are a good few wine farms that you can visit on the Tulbagh Wine Route or sip some champagne at Twee Jonge Gezellen. Tulbagh is famous for the restoration of the old houses in Church street after the devastating earthquake in 1969. It is worthwhile to take a stroll down this historic street. You can even have lunch at one the restaurants. If you are more adventurous, you can do Zipline at Ceres. Watch the calender for the very enjoyable Christmas in Winter Fair and the Tulbagh Arts Festival.
