Umshanti Campsite, Swellendam, Western Cape

Umshanti is situated on the outskirts of Swellendam in the Western Cape. Once you turn of the N7 it is few km’s on decent gravel road that will lead you to the farm. As you enter the farm you can check in at the reception area before making your way to the campsites themself. The campsite are all located on a grass lawn and each campsite as its own gazebo that offers you shade throughout the day. Under the gazebo you will find a table where you can sit and have a bite to eat as well as 220V electrical outlets and a light. Each campsite has a braai drum that comes with a grid as well. The ablutions consists of 3 unisex bathrooms each with a toilet and a shower and it was neat and well maintained. On the farm there are rooms and chalets if you don’t want to camp and a bar area where you can enjoy a drink. Nestled between the rooms there are many communal braai area where you can have a braai and enjoy the amazing view of the dam and the valley below. From the camp area it is a short walk down to the edge of the dam where there is a recreational area where you can relax, sunbathe or just enjoy the amazing view. You can also rent a kayak or canoe and explore the dam on the water. Umshanti is great place to escape the city life for a bit and relax and unwind.
