Slanghoek Mountain Resort, Rawsonville, Western Cape

The Slanghoek valley is just off the N1 and only 100km from Cape Town. Slanghoek Resort is a very popular camp in the Slanghoek Valley. The camp is surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Western Cape Winelands. There is a river running through the camp which gives a feeling of calm and tranquillity. Almost all the campsites will face the river. Some of the campsites have green grass, but others will be ground camping. The majority of the campsites have private ablutions. Each campsite has a braai and taps with water. There are different sizes of campsites, The website has a very handy map to guide one to the one that will suit your specific needs. The resort is on both sides of the Slanghoek road. The campsites are next to the river and the alternative accommodation and function venue on the opposite side of the road. At the shop you buy basic food stuff, ice and firewood and they also have a few treats and spoils available. If pre-ordered one can enjoy a basic breakfast at the restaurant. The alternative accommodations vary from glamping tents to chalets, log cabins and luxury eco-chalets. They can host different types of functions and even have a small chapel. Both sides of the resort have a swimming pool and children’s play area. The campsites are very well looked after, and the manager was doing rounds to make sure everybody is happy.

There are a lot of wine farms and good restaurants in the area. Visiting all of them can keep you busy for a while. You can do some hiking and mountain biking or try your hand at putt-putt.
